How it works

How Perceptc Works

Perceptc takes one thought that is bothering you and returns three useful perspectives and a next step. The whole flow is designed to be quiet, short, and finished in a few minutes.

It is a clear thinking tool, not a chat that goes on indefinitely. You bring a single thought, get a structured response, and return to your day with something concrete to do. Here is each step in order.

1. Type or speak the thought

Write the thought in your own words, the way it actually sounds in your head. If typing feels like too much, you can use voice input. Speech is converted to text by your browser's speech recognition, which may rely on your browser or device provider. Short, honest phrasing works best, for example: "I missed the deadline and everyone will think I cannot handle this role."

2. Get a breakdown

Your thought is sent to the Perceptc server and processed by an AI model. The response begins with a brief breakdown that names the cognitive distortions it notices, such as catastrophizing or mind reading. You can select a pattern to read a short explanation of what it means. The aim is to make the shape of the thought visible.

3. Read three reframes

Next, Perceptc offers three alternative perspectives on the same situation. They are not slogans or forced positivity. Each one is a plausible, grounded way to read the facts that is different from the original interpretation. Some will resonate and some will not, and that is expected. Choosing the one that fits is part of building cognitive clarity.

Why three?

One alternative can feel like an argument against you. Several alternatives remind you that your first interpretation was one option among many, which is often enough to loosen a loop and help you stop overthinking.

4. Take the next step

Every result ends with a single suggested action: something small and specific you can do soon. Reflection without action tends to turn back into rumination, so the next step is what moves you from thinking to doing.

5. Your journal stays in your browser

Each completed result is saved exactly as shown to a journal in your browser's local storage on that device. The journal keeps up to 30 entries. It does not sync across devices, and clearing your history in Perceptc or clearing your browser data removes it. Recent journal context may be sent along with a new thought so responses can take earlier entries into account. See the privacy policy for details.

What to keep in mind

Perceptc is an AI reframing tool, and AI can be wrong. Treat each perspective as a prompt for your own judgment. You remain responsible for the choices you make. Perceptc is a tool for performance and cognitive clarity.
